Missouri Waters

A list of Missouri trout waters and regulations.

Trout Parks(Click on park name for MDC regulations)

Montauk State Park- Excluding Roaring River(because I have not fished it) Montauk is my favorite choice for park fishing.  It offers roughly 2.5 miles of stocked stream with water for every kind of fishing.  Deep pools, shallow swift water, it is all there.  Fly fishing is allowed through out the entire park and offers a section for fly only fishing.  That does not mean fly rod only, a spinning rod with a marabou jig for example is perfectly legal.  It does cut out the bait fishermen.  The MDC defines a fly as follows “A fly shall be constructed on a single point hook using any material except soft plastic bait and natural and scented bait, that are tied, glued, or otherwise permanently attached.”

Bennett Spring- I have fished this park a few times and do not care for it.  Most of the water seems to be slow and lazy and they have several different zones for different fishing styles.  Fly fishing is not permitted in the entire park so be sure to read signs before fishing.

Roaring River- I have never fished this park.

Saint James- Run by the James Foundation.  This has the shortest section of stocked stream of all the parks.
